Chelsea keeping an eye on new coach set to leave current role this summer, with Pochettino on the hotseat

Football Espana have this evening reported that Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez could be a target for Chelsea this summer.

The former midfielder has already announced he will be leaving the Blaugrana, and his credentials as a multiple Champions League winner as a player will likely interest a lot of top clubs. Chelsea and Newcastle both have coaches, but are reported to be considering making a change come the end of the campaign.

Xavi has insisted he will take a sabbatical next season, but it seems likely a big opportunity would tempt him. As exhausting as managing in the spotlight in Catalonia is, he’s still young and can hardly claim to be burned out.

As for Chelsea, a lot will depend on these final games of the season. As it stands, it seems likely the club try for some stability and stick with Mauricio Pochettino. But if we collapse to the finish line, it would shock nobody to see him and his staff sacked.
