Every year, thousands gather from across the globe at the Javits Center in New York City, home to ICFF – the International Contemporary Furniture Fair – during NYCxDESIGN. From circular design processes to subversion of materiality, the three days were full of excitement, good conversations, and most importantly, great design.

Nik Bentel returns with the Loopy Chair, with steel, fiberglass, and upholstered options that spark a sense of unrestrained fun. Gantri launches Gantri Made, a system for designers to produce lighting in an elegant and functional way, with lightning-fast lead times of 10-12 days to print, produce, and ship out. This way, designers don’t have to store stock, overproduce, and manage inventory – it’s all part of the circular system of Gantri Made.
Morpho is defined by nature and Art Nouveau aesthetics, taking the vertices of a dragonfly wing or a baobab root and celebrating these evolving designs through furniture. Considered details and top quality craftsmanship make this an immersive and calming experience, a forest of plants bringing some life to a largely foliage-free show.
Now this was impressive. MycoWorks has created a mushroom-based leather with an incredible feel. The material is super soft, the appropriate amount of give, and best of all, natural growth patterns – just like real leather.
